Moto G created a wave in the android market. It changed the opinion of the Android customers. With its outstanding features and regular updates, it has won the heart of many purchasers. Google purchased Motorola, with which this device was launched. Now, Lenovo owns Motorola.

Here is what my friend Abhishek Tavasalkar has to say about Moto G in one of his posts:

Abhishek Tavasalkar's opinion about Moto G

You should be knowing that Moto G is available only at Flipkart Online Store.

This makes the device inaccessible for many.

Why? Because many don’t trust online shopping due to problems associated with replacement.

Also, there are some areas where Flipkart takes a remarkable high shipping cost. There are also some where it doesn’t ship at all!

Let me tell you, Moto G is permanently removed from Flipkart.

It is now time for Moto G2, baby!

UPDATE: Moto G2 has arrived! The device now has a lot to offer! Its priced at Rs.13000 on Flipkart.

Now, in such a situation, don’t you think there is a need to reach out for its alternatives?

For this purpose, I have decided to share not 1, neither 2 nor 3, but 8 of Moto G alternative smartphones. Hope you will like them!

1. Lenovo S850 – The Best Moto G Alternative

This device is one of the greatest competitors of Moto G. The features are almost same. There are four noticeable differences:

  1. Better Camera (13 MP vs. 5 MP)
  2. Doesn’t support memory card while Moto G2 does
  3. May not be upgraded to Android L, while Moto G is confirmed to receive Android L
Lenovo S660 - Moto G Alternative

I personally have this device at my house and I can say that it is freakingly awesome and an awesome alternative to Moto G. That is the reason why I consider this device as the best Moto G alternative.

Another reason is that smartphone battery is a major concern to me.You can read about improving your device’s battery by clicking on the below link:

2. Sony Xperia E3 Dual SIM – The second best alternative

Sony Xperia E3 Dual - Moto G Alternative
You can’t forget Sony!
With 1 GB RAM, 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, mediocre camera, Android v4.4.2 Kitkat, you can do anything you wish to with your device in this price range.
I like this device because of the additional features provided by the company. You can realize them only after you buy this device.
Do you think I am joking? Well, I have purchased this smartphone for myself! Its working really well,
You can expect a review on my blog soon! STAY TUNED!

3. Xolo Q1100 – The Indian “Killer”

Xolo Q1100 - Moto G Alternative

The Indian brand is also into the game! Xolo Q1100 is one of the toughest competitors of Moto G due to the fact that it is far cheaper than the latter. The phone is quite stylish and is far better than Moto G if you trust this brand. The only minus point is that the android version is 4.3 Jellybean and not Kitkat. But though, it is worth buying.

Oh, and how can I forget two major plus points:
  1. Larger Screen (5 Inch vs 4.5 Inch)
  2. Better Camera (8 MP vs 5 MP)

4. Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG – The new game-changer

Asus-Zenfone-5-Moto-G-Alternative

No words for this device! It has 2 GB RAM, 5 inch screen, Android v4.3 upgradable to v4.4, Gorilla Glass 3, 2110 mAh battery, and a 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom processor. I am just amazed by looking at this features. And the price? Just Rs.12999! Amazing, huh?

5. Sony Xperia M – Its good, but the no.2 is better

Sony Xperia M - Moto G Alternative

Sony smartphones have always worked awesome for me and I think Sony truly deserves the crown of best smartphone developer. Sony Xperia M comes with 1 GB RAM, 4 Inch Screen, 5 MP Camera etc. The device is a great alternative to Moto G for the Sony lovers and has a great plus point of Sony’s attractive UI.

Sony manufactures optimized devices, just like Apple. Even 1 GB RAM is enough for a Sony device to work flawlessly.

The problem with this device is its screen size. Nobody would like to have a titsy-bitsy smartphone, would you?

6. Gionee Elife E3 – Gionee makes it, every time!

Gionee Elife E3 - Moto G Alternative

How can I forget Gionee when it comes to finding an alternative? Elife E3, which comes with a 1.2 Ghz Processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB Internal Memory and a stunning 8 MP Front Camera can be a great alternative to Moto G. Gionee is a good manufacturer with a dashing UI. I think Gionee is a great rival of Samsung.

Fact: One of Gionee’s devices, Elife S5.1, holds the record of being the world’s slimmest smartphone!

7. Micromax Canvas Turbo – The second Indian brand

Micromax Canvas Turbo - Moto G Alternative

The features are quite good, better than Moto G. The difference is of RAM (2 GB) and Camera (8 MP). But I would insist that you shouldn’t buy Micromax. There are two big reasons for it. Click on the below link to know why:Here’s why I don’t prefer Micromax

8. Karbonn Titanium S5 – Forget the brand, and you have it!

Karbonn Titanium S5 - Moto G Alternative

Almost the same features as that of Canvas Turbo. But the price is just Rs.8000. But I placed it last because of the poor smartphone quality of Karbonn’s smartphones. If had to choose a Moto G alternative, I would take it as the last option left.

Of course, this device is good specification-wise. But I won’t guarantee its validity!

    • Hi Helvin,

You've said it right, the price is down currently. But the offer is temporary I guess.

Moreover, price is not the only factor. India is not yet used with online shopping. And Moto G is just available on Flipkart!

There are smartphones worth Rs.10000 competing with Moto G!

I appreciate that you commented here! Thanks for doing so!

      Have a nice day…….

    • Hi Aditya,

Thanks for the comment! I am also glad to know that you found this article to be helpful!

I would also be happy to know if you've tried any of these devices. If yes, do let me know your experience!

      Have a nice day!

  1. I'll choose the Moto G over the others for one simple reason. Quick Updates. Nothing to do with trust with online shopping. But thanks for the list of great alternatives. It's a valuable resource.

  2. I will prefer the Lenovo S660 and the Sony Xperia M. They are tried and tested brands. However, there are still some people that would prefer to have the Moto G despite the alternatives.

For these people, it would be best to encourage them by making logistic provisions to satisfy their phone need in India.

    • Hi Sunday,

Even I have personally tested Lenovo S660. The device is truly flawless, and that is the reason why I placed it first. Sony, who doesn't know of it? They create MASTERPIECES!

Moto G rocked the android market because Google launched it, is quite affordable and is pure android.

      PS: Thanks for upvoting!

      Have a nice day!

  3. Hi,

Wow, seven more incredible phones in the same price range, this will surely help many out there. Moto G has definitely taken down the market with it's competitive price and the brand name it has to offer along with those eye catching features.

Selling it exclusively on flipkart have made many to opt for online shopping. But, like you said, still many are not ready to have their hands on Moto G for some or another reason.

My friends are using Gionee and it is great phone.

P.S. I found this post on Kingged.

    • Hi Rohan,

These seven are just the most competitive, there are still many, hidden behind the curtains, desperately waiting to be displayed. No words for Moto G! The response is FLAWLESS!

The fact that Gionee is good is agreeable. My uncle has a Gionee S5.5

      Thanks for the comment!

  4. Hey Yashraj…
Well a Very Well Writen Article..
I found All The 7 Phones As Good Alternatives For Moto G But I think Sony Xperia M And Asus Zenphone 5 Are not Only Alternatives But Strong Competiters…
    Have A Good Day…

    • Hi Kartik.

      Thanks for the appreciation!

Yes, all the phones have given Moto G a strong competition. Sony has done a flawless work. Sony Xperia M is just AWESOME!

Asus, though new, has turned out to be a reliable company. The features of Zenfone are ASTONISHING!

Thank you for commenting! Have a nice weekend!

    • Hi Sampath,

First of all, let me thank you for commenting on my blog post. Let me wish you a warm welcome here!

Xiamo Mi3 is a good alternative to Moto G. The fact that it was sold out in 2 seconds on Flipkart proves its immense popularity. However, Xiaomi is accused of copying Apple's design and interface, and I don't think its good to copy something which took years to build, right? That is the reason why I didn't include any Xiaomi smartphone in this list. You know what I mean!

      Thanks again for commenting!

      Yashraj

    • Hi there,

It is a tough choice for me to decide the best smartphone amongst these devices. But, based on my research, I can say that Lenovo S850 is quite overpriced. What we are remained with Asus Zenfone 5 and Mi3.

Mi3 is a very popular device. Of course, its features are also good. But, they are accused of copying Apple's design! They have copied years of hardwork of Apple! Also, being a Chinese brand, I don't count on its quality.

So I would recommend you to go for Asus Zenfone 5. Make sure that you go for A501CG one, as there are many categories of Zenfone 5. But still, there is no harm in going with Mi3 as well.

Thanks for commenting here! If you need more assistance, feel free to contact me. Just reply to this comment and we will be in touch!

      Have a nice weekend!

    • Hi Jason,

Welcome to TechProbeX! It feels good to have you on board!

I don't have any words for Sony Xperia M. The device is just FLAWLESS. Every above commentator appreciated it!

Asus is the new game changer in the smartphone industry. I personally want to try my hands with Asus Zenfone 5.

Windows Phones are not a fit for many users due to the lack of availability of apps. Else, they are sleek, stylish and with better features!

      Have a nice weekend!

  5. Nice list of alternatives. Indeed i have lenovo s650, a little less version compared to ur list. Even its too very cool, i love it. Asus zenfone is best, bcoz of it RAM specs and processor.

    Regards,
    Justin

    • Hi Justin,

Thank you for the appreciation you've given me!

Since Lenovo now owns Motorola, I don't think there should be much difference in the quality of Lenovo's and Motorola's devices. Thus, Lenovo devices, especially the one you're having and its elder brother, work very well.

Asus? Its damn-awesome. I like to call it the "GAME CHANGER" in the smartphone industry!

Thanks for commenting! Have a nice day!

    • Hi Sagar,

Moto G2 is really an awesome device. The second generation has covered the negative aspects of the earlier version. We now have a better screen size and an expandable storage too!

Undoubtedly, it is one of the best devices worldwide!

But, you know that every phone cant work out for everyone!

      Thanks!

      Have a nice day!

    • Hi Vinod,

Xolo Q1000 can be ideal at this price, as far as I know. I wouldn't recommend you to go for Samsung or Sony as they are not fit for this range.

Moto E is a smart choice too!

      Have a nice day!

    • Hi there,

As you must be knowing, Google is rolling out Android L these days. So, it will be better if you rather choose a smartphone which is confirmed to get Android L. Moto G2 would be the best in the range you're opting for and has Android L rolled out too!

      I hope I am clear!

Respond back if you're still stuck!

      Have a nice day!

    • so you mean to say lenovo s 850 wont give an upgrade for android L.can you please brief me on the difference between android kit kat and android L,because i really like the look of s850.

    • Well, nothing can be said clearly for now. None of the lenovo devices are in the confirmed list of receiving Android L update as of now.

Let us wait and watch. The company website says that the latest version is 4.4.2 (KitKat)

As of the difference, Android L (v5) is the new version of the OS. I am not sure how awesome it is, since I don't own any device having this update, but from the public opinion, I can say that it is far better from its predecessors.

      Have a nice day!

  6. thank you for the response. other than android L, how better is moto g2 compared with lenovo s850 because both are owned by same company.? please help.
